ABSTRACT
The optimization of exhaust emissions, noise, and vibration of a Hydrogen Direct Injection Diesel Fuelled Engine (HDID) represents a crucial area of research aimed at advancing the performance, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of internal combustion engines. This abstract provides an overview of the key objectives, methodologies, and findings of studies focused on optimizing these parameters in HDID engines. There has been growing interest in hydrogen-fueled engines as a means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the environmental impacts of transportation. HDID engines, which combine the compression ignition principles of diesel engines with the direct injection of hydrogen into the combustion chamber, offer a promising solution for achieving cleaner and more efficient combustion. However, the optimization of exhaust emissions, noise, and vibration presents significant challenges that require innovative approaches and advanced technologies. The primary objective of research on the optimization of exhaust emissions, noise, and vibration of HDID engines is to minimize environmental impacts while maintaining or improving engine performance and reliability. This involves identifying and mitigating sources of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and carbon monoxide (CO), as well as reducing noise and vibration levels to enhance passenger comfort and vehicle durability. To achieve these objectives, researchers employ a combination of experimental testing, computational modeling, and optimization techniques to analyze engine performance, emissions, and noise characteristics under various operating conditions. Experimental testing involves conducting engine dynamometer tests and vehicle emissions testing to measure exhaust emissions, noise, and vibration levels under controlled laboratory conditions.
